Depicted seated, the body sculpted in wood, covered in gesso and painted black, the legs, the head and the tail feathers each separately cast of bronze and inserted, 
the forelegs and talons incised with crosshatching, the legs folded under, with a sinuous neck and long bill, two deep grooves along the length of the bill, the eyes inlaid, the closed wings articulated, two tenons below each leg for insertion
