Gabriel Constant Vaucher (born June 15, 1768 in Geneva , † April 26, 1814 ) was a Swiss historical painter of classicism .

Gabriel Constant Vaucher's father Abraham Vaucher was a jeweler and enamel painter. Gabriel Constant Vaucher attended the Geneva drawing school from 1780 to 1782. From 1782 to 1789 he was a student in Rome of his mother's cousin, the painter Jean-Pierre Saint-Ours (1752-1809). At the age of 17 he won the first prize of the Parma Academy with his picture Alexander and his doctor Philippe , which is still in the collections of the Galleria nazionale di Parma . The admiration of the masterpieces by Michelangelo and Raffael shaped his art in the direction of classicism , which also corresponded to the then dominant empire style . Back in Geneva, he had attended the Salon des Société des Arts since 1789. Since 1799 he has devoted himself increasingly to drawing historical scenes and portrait painting. His private students included Joseph Hornung and Abraham Constantin (1785-1855). He died at the age of 45.
